Forde Abbey and GardensEnjoy Forde Abbey, a beautiful 850 year old former Cistercian monastery, now a welcoming family home surrounded by 30 acres of award-winning gardens including a working kitchen garden and the highest powered fountain in England. Delicious homemade lunches and cakes available, with gift shop, plant centre, pottery exhibition and children's garden trail. Free entry for under 15s.

The Gardens. The Gardens are open every day throughout the year from 10am. Last admission is at 4.30pm and the gardens close at 6pm.
The House. The House is open 24th March to 30th October, 12noon. Last admission is at 4.00pm. Open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.


5th - 13th March - Crocus Week - Crocus Week, when these jewel-like flowers will carpet the lawns.
25th - 28th March - Easter Egg Hunt & Activities - Chat to Beatrix Potter-inspired woodland characters to find clues and follow the trail in our special Easter Egg Hunt over the Easter weekend.
30th April - 15th May - Tulip Festival - During the two months of April and May, when more than twenty thousands tulips bloom across the gardens.
9th - 24th July - Sweet Pea Fortnight - Up to one hundred varieties of sweet peas will adorn the gardens in 2016. Although we set aside a special fortnight to see the sweet peas at their best, they bloom for so much longer than that.
28th July - Summer Fair - The Summer Fair, always the last Thursday in July. We are delighted to announce that the 2015 Summer Fair raised a record £28,000.
2nd August - Folksy Theatre with As You Like It - Rosalind, the daughter of a banished duke, falls in love with Orlando. When she, in turn, is banished from court by her usurping uncle, she takes on the appearance of a boy, calling herself Ganymede.
27th & 28th August - Monmouth Rebellion Re-enactment - Join the Taunton Garrison as they prepare themselves for battle with weaponry demonstrations, drill displays and musket firing.
24th September - Autumn Plant Fair - A new Autumn Plant Fair, to be held in partnership with the Hardy Plants Society Somerset Group.
